The "Trillion-Tonne" Iceberg, Sculptural Watercolour® by Prue Bishop, 60 x 80 x 5 cm G07, 2023. Print.

The World’s Largest “Trillion-Tonne” Iceberg Breaks Away from an Antarctica Ice Shelf. This complex Sculptural Watercolour® is of the “Trillion Tonne” Iceberg soon after it drifted away from the mainland
that may be seen in the background.
In July 2017, the largest iceberg in human history at that time was ‘calved’ i.e. broke away from the Larsen C ice shelf just as Antarctica’s average annual temperatures began to rise.
It is almost impossible to comprehend its size: twice the area of Europe’s Luxembourg. Although the calving of icebergs is a natural event, Antarctica’s ice sheets are melting three times faster than a decade ago.
