Le Lac d’Emosson
Le Lac d’Emosson en Hiver - Sculptural Watercolour® by Prue Bishop, 50 x 70 x 6 cm S15, 2012. Digital.
The Artist explains: "This is a view of the Emosson Dam which is only half built . It is as it appeared in 2012.
The construction of a dam to control the water above the Rhône Valley started in 1956 which became known as the Petite Emosson. Between 1969 and 1973, the large scale project for the hydroelectric complex straddling Switzerland and France began. I revisited it two years ago, and this magnificent architectural masterpiece has brought together the outstanding skills of design and technology of both France and Switzerland. What I particularly enjoy is the combination of practical construction and environment. The surrounding mountains are simply stunning."
