Digital Images

TIFF Images

Large digital images for sale in our shop are in TIFF format https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TIFF which is an image file format popular with the publishing industry and photography.

The images have a resolution of 300 dpi and this is more than sufficient for large format prints.

The photographs are taken with a top end digital SLR with tripod and appropriate lighting.  If you require a higher resolution, for instance 600 dpi, this is available too – but please contact us on info@artandpublishing.ch and we’ll be more than happy to assist.

An additional reason we provide 300 dpi is that this is excellent for all types of printing, including large format, whilst ensuring the file size does not become too big.  In general, our TIFF files are in the range of 30 MB each.  (Higher resolutions mean file sizes beyond 100MB).

Watermarks

The images for purchase do not have any watermark.  The watermark you typically see before purchase is a variant of this here.  The TIFF files for download are without this watermark.

Thumbnails & Vignettes

We also offer JPG versions of the thumbnail images for sale, without watermarks.  The JPG versions are around 300kB in size, and actually very usable for all manner of web presentations.  The purchased versions do not have any watermark

How do I download the digital image (or eBook) once I have purchased it?

1/ Log into your account at Art and Publishing

2/ Go to ‘My Account’ and select ‘Sales Orders’. You will see your Sales Order and the Order Date. Click on the Sales Order and you will see the Sales Order containing Documents – typically a ZIP file with the image, or a PDF file for an eBook.

Now you can click on the file and download it to your computer.

ZIP file issues

The ZIP file is compressed using Microsoft Windows ZIP compression.  The digital file is not compressed, but the ZIP container is used to prevent the cloud from compressing the TIFF file to a lower resolution format. Occasionally, you might get an error if the filename is considered too long on your computer. If this happens, simply go to where you have downloaded the file and rename it to something shorter.  You should now be able to access the digital image without any issue.
